South Carolina Department of Corrections should be looking at their policy and procedures regarding new prisoners. Greg Leon was supposed to be under evaluation which means being watched and assessed by the guards who were in charge of his floor. I don’t understand how Greg was able to attempt to take his own life and there were no guards checking on him every five minutes when he was alone in his cell. Where were his three cellmates and did they know that he was contemplating this? Not a good look for DOC when someone is convicted of a crime and then placed in prison for evaluation before permanent assignment and he has the time and the resources to attempt to take your own life in your cell.
