The power of curiosity and connection can change lives including yours. MY HEART IS FULL!!! I met #DeonParson (far right with the mask) five years ago in our hometown of Anderson, Indiana while I was there working on a story about the economic recovery of our small town that had experienced the devastating impact of the exodus of General Motors. I was downtown with my photographer shooting a stand up for my story and I noticed this young man standing by just watching me. I was tired having just completed an immunotherapy treatment session for breast cancer but after my taping, I walked over to him, and he asked me why we were there. I explained and quickly turned my focus to him. I began asking about his life and he shared that he was a fledgling cartoonist and he wanted to show me his work. We had to get back to the station, but I said, "Sure," not knowing what I had agreed to, but instinctively knowing that God had us meet for a divine purpose. #SpiritOfDiscernment Watch this story from September 2019 to hear how our connection began and why I decided... in that moment... that his story needed to be told. THIS is why I fell in love with writing and sharing stories. THIS is why we are in the world -- to see, hear, and help one another! To say that I miss my job because of #workplaceabuse is an understatement. If you're grieving the loss of your job, I get it. It's a loss of what you loved and what you know you were called to do on this earth. It hurts that people intentionally disrespect and hurt you to eliminate you... AND just remember, that as you continue to heal and look towards the future and pray that another employer will recognize your worth and value, lean on the truth and the purpose for your life. Out of the blue when you need to be encouraged, someone will remind you that your simple kindness made an impact in their life.
