Day 42 - Byrness to Jedburgh - 20 miles.
Weather - Sunny and warm with a gentle breeze.
The day started with a steep climb out of Byrness up to the Cheviots. I then left the Pennine Way descending on the Roman road ‘Dere Street’ crossing into Scotland and onward to Jedburgh.
A view over the Severan period granaries and aqueduct built at the start of the 2nd century AD at Corbridge. Site 11 was never finished and would have been an impressive building if completed, it’s thought plague or conflict caused building to be ceased #HadriansWall #DereStreet #Coria

Nearly 10 miles north along Dere street Roman road from where is crosses Hadrian's Wall we meet the #Roman camp on Swine hill.
Some 165m x 160m, it has three entrances with internal Clavicles (curving ramparts protecting the entrances).
