1. A quick and clean #deskreject is better than wasting a reviewer's time. Some major points that need work should be conveyed to the author.

I finally read the working paper on Democratic Backsliding. The basic premise rests on close elections in 2019 being different from past close elections. When one looks at the data provided in the appendix, you don’t find any statistical difference b/w 2019 Vs 2004! #DeskReject

Confused about #deskreject versus #quickreject? Typically, #deskreject fails to follow instructions (non anonymised, wrong template, etc any other reqts given in cfp). #quickreject is a valid submission that has such a low chance of acceptance it will not be sent for peer review
The best thing I have seen today is a retraction notice for a paper wherein the author got busted sending it to his wife for peer review. Risky gamble that #deskreject

Discutere con chi ha opinioni diverse è una cosa, ridursi a questo livello infimo di analisi, roba da seconda media, un'altra.

Problem is, coauthors and I aren't clear on what "specialization" they're referring to! (e.g., too species- or methods-centric?)
