On this day in Dec. 2019, #CLTairport broke ground on the #DestinationCLT Terminal Lobby Expansion (TLE). In the last year, CLT has added several new baggage carousels, started construction on what will be Checkpoint 2, opened the overhead walkways connecting the Hourly Deck to the lobby, unveiled two new terrazzo installations, completed the glass canopy and opened all upper-level roadway lanes.

The Eastside of the new TLE lobby is now open in #CLTairport. The new ticket lobby, baggage claim, and tunnel space will include additional elevators, escalators and terminal curb front entrance doors 3 and 4 are now open. #DestinationCLT

A part of #DestinationCLT, this 146,000-square-foot canopy is comprised of 63 prefabricated steel truss pieces and 195 purlins that will support a glass canopy expected to be completed in 2024. It will shelter eight traffic lanes in front of the terminal.
#DestinationCLT Concourse A Expansion Phase II calls for the construction of 10 new gates to accommodate expanding air service. It will add approximately 200,000 square feet to the 1.8 million-square-foot #CLTairport terminal.
