The military operations administration announced the start of a military operation in the eastern Idlib countryside, in the Saraqib area. The primary goal of this phase is to cut off the international highway "Aleppo - Damascus," known as the M5.
The operations aim to take control of the following villages:
Dadikh - Jubas - Shabour - Kafr Batikh.
The combat operations are still ongoing in two main clear directions:
1. The area extending west of the international highway towards #Maarat_AlNuman.
2. Towards the city of Saraqib.
- Tactical Improvement:
There is a noticeable improvement in the fighters' tactical performance, as they avoid old offensive methods that rely on frontal confrontation according to the arrow tactic, which involves direct frontal attacks under fire cover.
From my observations over the past two days, the prominent tactics being used are:
1. **Advance to Contact**: This tactic involves gaining the element of surprise and attempting to neutralize the artillery fire of the defenders by rapidly engaging with their defensive points.
2. **Flanking**: This is applied in two cases, a) when there is a position that is difficult to quickly engage with directly, the attacker flanks the position to encircle it. b) Avoiding entry into large populated areas by encircling and besieging them instead of direct combat, which would increase the cost for the attacker due to the concrete blocks they would have to fight through.
- Operational Axis:
The operational axis is 12.5 km long, with a maximum depth of 4 km. The square area controlled so far is 37 square kilometers (as of 2 PM today, Thursday).
- Identity of Assad's Forces:
The following forces are deployed on the Saraqib axis (18th Division - 11th Division - 25th Special Tasks Division - 14th Special Forces Division - 15th Special Forces Division - 5th Division - 5th Corps).
Additionally, several militias are present, including (#Lebanese_Hezbollah - Baath Brigade of the 5th Corps).
