@PaulGibson20 @RosemaryKaye1 @danny__kruger Unfortunately a considerable number of Devizes’ citizens, although I’m not sure how that will pan out in ‘24, especially as a large number of them elected me and my independent #DevizesGuardians’ colleagues in the last Town Council elections in 2019….

#DevizesGuardians are very concerned about the tenancy dispute between the residents of #SnuffCourt+#SovereignHousing. Our housing representative has written to #WiltshireCouncilHousingDepartment raising our concerns+strongly representing the issues raised by the residents.

@CliveWismayer Parish councils are repeatedly ignored by the media other than by(very)local rags. In Devizes, Wiltshire, despite being in the bluest county ever, indie group, #DevizesGuardians, won 11/21 seats and remained the lead group for the third time running. ‘Nuff said!

2/2 But the biscuit was well+truly taken by an email from a neighbour demanding to know how #DevizesGuardians candidates voted in national elections! I replied that #secretballots have been the norm for over a century for good reasons, so that information would not be shared!

1/2 This week I have received two letters asking about #DevizesGuardians policies. I have answered them honestly, but have been much struck by the complete ignorance of my interlocutors regarding the difference in the responsibilities of Town and Unitary Authorities.

It has occurred to me that I have never explained my involvement in local affairs properly. Suffice it to say I am an #IndependentCouncillor, part of a group, #DevizesGuardians, whose sole aim is to work for the good of our town, and who have no connection to national politics.
