Yesterday, I placed documented evidences that since 2018, I have been relentlessly warning the BJP government about the rampant illegal mining in the #Dikhow river and the catastrophic disaster it would inevitably bring upon #Upper Assam.
And how does the ruling party respond to this grim reality? In a shocking, shameful, and deeply hurtful display of insensitivity, the Assam BJP President and MP, Shri Dilip Saikia, chose to react with a mocking laugh!
I ask you directly, Mr. Saikia, Is the sheer destruction of Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat a laughing matter to you? When families are shattered, when the wails of grieving families echo in the floodwaters, and when lakhs are left with absolutely nothing, what exactly do you find so "amusing"?
Please, explain the #joke to the people of #Assam.
This incident exposes a terrifying #truth: the sheer arrogance of power has completely blinded them to human suffering. They have lost basic #empathy for the very people they are supposed to serve.

Aug 3–4, 2026 weather inference: #NorthEastIndia remains the primary area of concern, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over #Assam #Nagaland #Meghalaya and #ArunachalPradesh, along with a heightened flood risk across parts of #Assam. The #Dikhow and #Dhansiri rivers are forecast by CWC to cross the danger level for at least a day. Some probabilistic forecasts also indicate that water levels at locations in #Sivasagar could approach the High Flood Level. Extreme caution is advised.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely across parts of central and eastern India. #UttarPradesh, #Bihar parts of #Delhi #Haryana #Punjab may receive widespread moderate rain with isolated heavy spells, while the Himalayan region #Himachal #Uttrakhand and western coastal belt of #Maharashtra, #Karnataka and northern #Kerala could experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the #Pamba River in parts of #Pathanamthitta district, #Kerala has been flowing above the danger level. Water levels are expected to recede gradually as rainfall decreases over its catchment areas.
