As I had previously mentioned, I heard some very encouraging news about #DirectPotableReuse becoming a reality!
Had a chance to meet @ejesquivel, Chair of @CaWaterBoards at the @ACWAWater conference in Sacramento.
He was well aware of my constant talking about realizing #DirectPotableReuse sooner than later and assures me the regulations are coming! The ratepayers can't wait! #AcwaConf
@PureWaterSD Recycled water (tertiary treated) for non-potable use, is appropriate. 👍
However, recycled water treated to a potable level and then put into a raw water reservoir, is not appropriate. 👎 That's a HUGE waste of money. 🤑

Got a presentation on the "Pure Water Oceanside" project at the @COWUSanDiego meeting.
I wanted to know if they designed the project in anticipation of #DirectPotableReuse (flange-to-flange). Said they would like to look at in the second phase. 🤔
Said cost is about $2,000 AF.
On the left you will note the "archaic thinking" that is common in the water industry, known as #IndirectPotableReuse. On the right is "modern thinking", known as #DirectPotableReuse, that is supported by #science. It is also more ratepayer friendly, who of course pay for it all.
