This is my will and my final message. If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. First, peace be upon you, and may God’s mercy and blessings be upon you. God knows that I gave everything I had — all my effort and strength — to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I first opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of Jabalia Refugee Camp. My hope was that God would grant me a long life so that I might return with my family and loved ones to our original hometown, occupied Asqalan (“Al-Majdal”), but God’s will came first, and His decree was carried out. I have lived pain in all its forms, and tasted loss and grief time and again. Yet I never hesitated for a single day to convey the truth as it is — without distortion or falsification — hoping that God would bear witness to those who remained silent, those who accepted our killing, those who suffocated our breath, and whose hearts were unmoved by the torn bodies of our children and women, and who did nothing to stop the massacre my people have endured for more than a year and a half. I entrust you with Palestine — the jewel in the crown of Muslims, and the heartbeat of every free soul in this world. I entrust you with its people, and with its innocent, wronged children who were not given the chance to dream or live in safety and peace. Their pure bodies were crushed beneath thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and missiles, torn apart, their remains scattered across the walls. I urge you: do not let chains silence you, nor borders hold you back. Be bridges toward the liberation of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and freedom rises once more over our stolen homeland. I entrust you with my family. I entrust you with the apple of my eye, my beloved daughter Sham, whom fate did not allow me to watch grow as I had dreamed. I entrust you with my dear son Salah, whom I wished to guide and stand beside until he became strong enough to carry the burden and continue the mission. I entrust you with my beloved mother, whose blessed prayers brought me to where I am, whose supplications were my fortress, and whose light illuminated my path. I ask God to keep her heart steadfast and to reward her abundantly on my behalf. I also entrust you with my life partner, my beloved wife, Umm Salah — Bayan — from whom the war separated me for many long days and months, yet she kept her promise, steadfast as the trunk of an olive tree that never bends, patient and faithful, carrying the responsibility in my absence with strength and faith. I ask you to gather around them and be their support after God Almighty. If I die, I die steadfast upon my principles. I bear witness before God that I am content with His decree, faithful in meeting Him, certain that what is with God is better and everlasting. O Allah, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my homeland. Forgive me if I have fallen short, and pray for me to have mercy, for I have gone forth holding to the pledge, never changing nor betraying it. Do not forget Gaza… and do not forget me in your sincere prayers for forgiveness and acceptance.
