Blurring so I don't #dox myself but 4 reviews and an exact match name was all it took to rank in the map pack for a 200 searches/month commercial keyword
We talk about this in the video btw. Go watch the sauce plz :)

Here's the ONLY local SEO playbook you need in 2026:
1. reviews are 80% of the game on the map pack. not just 50 blank five-star reviews — strong ones, 50-100 words, that mention the service provided and where it happened, ideally answering the questions people ask before they book. but velocity beats volume: someone stacking 6-8 fresh reviews a month will lap you even if you have 100 old ones. google prioritizes recency because it's more relevant. jacky's buddy has a dogwater-tier setup but 333 reviews and his physio clinic is booming purely off that.
2. the exact-match business name cheat code is completely broken right now. tristan and his buddy opened an HVAC-adjacent GBP in houston, did an exact-match DBA, stacked 3 reviews, and landed in the map pack for the keyword in a market where the average competitor has 40-50 reviews. if you're starting a cleaning company don't call it something cute — call it "dallas cleaners." put the keyword in the name and you're playing on easy mode. this has been broken for over a year.
3. your primary GBP category is one of the strongest signals and people screw it up constantly. set to "general contractor" instead of "electrician"? that's why you get no leads. and it's seasonal — an HVAC company with primary category set to "furnace repair" in summer gets crickets because nobody's searching it. switch to "AC repair" when the season flips. if you're not getting leads, check this first.
4. backlinks work differently for local. you don't need crazy metrics — local backlinks from businesses in your city are a strong relevance signal on their own. lafayette business getting links from lafayette sites ranks. if you can't get local links, normal strong backlinks with good metrics still get people into the top three. no secret sauce, just indexsy, get me links, serp ninja, or crawling vendor lists.
5. on-page is simpler than people think. page title gets the parent keyword + city. H1 gets a slight variation. H2/H3 get secondary semantic keywords. front-load the primary keyword in the first 20-25 words of every commercial page. that's basically it. you don't need crazy taxonomy in most markets — keyword in the title, variations in the headers, done.
6. the GSC mining tactic that gives a free boost: scan search console weekly for non-branded keywords ranking above position 10, then work those phrases naturally back into your money pages. people search lazily and ungrammatically, so don't paste word for word — make it sound natural. nice little lift on supplementary keywords.
the warning both of them hammered: programmatic blog content is mostly a scam SEOs run to look busy. tristan audited an ABA therapy clinic getting 10,000 views a month — all from "is elon musk autistic" type junk keywords. zero leads. jacky's take: blasting hundreds of blogs a month spikes your impressions in GSC so the agency can say "we did our job," but the actual lead impact is zero to none, and your site gets clapped eventually anyway.
the framing that ties it together: the 80% is foundational — do it and you'll rank #1 in any normal town in 2026.
the other 20% isn't useless, it's the tiebreaker for when you're in NYC or LA going up against other decent SEOs. boony town = 80% is enough. tier one city = you need the 20% to tip the scale.
