We assisted THTC from the Dutch police by writing a decryptor for the #DoNex ransomware. Its encryption method had a flaw that makes it possible to recover all files without knowing the key. Our decryptor has now been published on No More Ransom.

Researchers from Avast decrypted the DoNex ransomware.
The decryptor had been secretly provided to victims since March 2024 in collaboration with law enforcement. This effort was publicly revealed in July 2024, making the secret decryption effort unnecessary.

New Ransomware Group Detected 🚨
A new criminal group enters the ransomware scene:
Donex
So far, on their data leak site, 5 companies have found their data leaked:
🇧🇪#Belgium: MIREL (Total leaked: 19GB)
🇮🇹#Italy: Elsap (leaked: 49GB)
🇺🇸#USA: P-Fleet (Total leaked: 22GB)
🇳🇱#Netherlands: Van der Helm (Total leaked: 39GB)
🇨🇿#CzechRepublic: Chocotopia (Total leaked: 33GB)
All victims report a date between February 23 and 27, and along with the download, various samples are also released.
In line with the typical behavior of ransomware groups, Donex, after encrypting the files, generates a ransom note on the victim's computer. This note typically appears as either a text file or a pop-up window and includes detailed instructions on how to pay the ransom in order to obtain the decryption key. (refer to the attachment)
