127 days have passed since I requested #DriverKit entitlements from @Apple. #Catalina, meanwhile, has shipped. Still didn't hear back. Has anyone?

Today it's 31 days w/o response since I requested #DriverKit entitlements. I have worked on kexts since 2007, hold a Developer ID with Kext extension, my kexts are in Apple's whitelist on every Mac and my main app's future viability partially depends on access to DriverKit.

#DriverKit then, seems to offer what the doctor ordered. But even though you already need to get an Apple dev account, a Developer ID and notarize the dext, access to DriverKit is further gated by an entitlement you have to apply for. Why? I've yet to find a good reason for that.

Today it's 31 days w/o response since I requested #DriverKit entitlements. I have worked on kexts since 2007, hold a Developer ID with Kext extension, my kexts are in Apple's whitelist on every Mac and my main app's future viability partially depends on access to DriverKit.

Drivers built with #DriverKit are suffixed ".dext", run in the App Sandbox, define their IOKit personalities in the Info.plist & their implementation looks very similar to what you'd expect to see in an IOKit driver. Not sure what the "iig" suffix is about, though. #WWDC19

In #SOTU, Apple just announced that "in a future #macOS release", KEXTs targeting driver categories covered by #DriverKit will no longer work and encouraged developers to adopt #DriverKit now. #WWDC19
