Maybe some of my former classmates from @DoughneyJ classes will understand this. But my Tuesday nights from 8-9pm feel a little empty lately... Hope the semester is going well for you #DrD. #justsayin #edle5680 #edle5650 #edle5630 #edle5330 #twitterchats
I enjoyed reading through yesterday evening’s chat #EDLE5680. Great stuff for anyone interested in how we get to a better accountability. Keep up the good work. I’ll look forward to future visits. Thanks @DoughneyJ for your great support.
I can put my Children in any school in our district and I didn’t pick the school with the highest test scores or the highest accountability rating. #EDLE5680
@DoughneyJ @testsensejt such good stuff! #EDLE5680
Such a great conversation! I'll continue pondering this topic. Have a blessed Thanksgiving! #EDLE5680
A2: I know that when my schools look at data and accountability ratings we look at the list that ranks is with similar demographic schools that way we can see if we are performing Lower or higher than them. #EDLE5680
@DoughneyJ As a History teacher first, I would tell that company & anyone else, the minute you forget where you came from and the minute you forget who your accountable to is the minute you began to fail. We cant just write off the process. The past is just as important as the now #EDLE5680
@DoughneyJ Have a great thanksgiving! #EDLE5680
@DoughneyJ @CoachQSays I appreciated this discussion from Tanner. The companies stated they would be bankrupt, ruined. I couldn't agree more. With the current state of accountability I often find educators with empty pockets. #EDLE5680
true accountability occurs when issues are recognized, effective plans are made to address them and there is follow through on those plans #EDLE5680
@DoughneyJ True accountability measures student achievement far beyond a test score. It focuses on the students and school as a whole and gives all students a fair shot at being successful. #EDLE5680
@DoughneyJ @CoachQSays A school that meets a variety of student needs is more accountable - we just don't have a clear-cut way to prove it! #EDLE5680
@DoughneyJ (1/2) I would argue that only when we look at he whole process from beginning to end instead of just one particular date from the school year do we see if we are truly serving our kids the right way. #trueaccountability also bring the community in, #EDLE5680
Q. 5 True accountability needs to be forward thinking. What do students need to learn to move ahead and surpass the goal? Current school A-F accountability is backward thinking. What do students lack that leaves them short of the goal? #EDLE5680
#EDLE5680 Our conversation around standardized testing reminds me of this quote. We need to be the change.
@DoughneyJ @CoachQSays @Dedraadams @JanaeCapshaw @jessica_hysell this punctuates why it is so important to include them in the process like we discussed the last 2 weeks. they need to help "unpack the standards" #EDLE5680
@JanaeCapshaw @DoughneyJ @CoachMrJohnson Let's face it, with the youngest learners those who come in ahead of the others have an advantage before walking in the door. Which parents spend quality time teaching ABCs and early learning skills? Not likely the single, low income mom who works two jobs! #EDLE5680
@Dedraadams @JanaeCapshaw @jessica_hysell What we've seen at my school is that our 8GT Math (Geo) students will do the math in the front of their test booklets to figure out the percentage they need to get correct to pass the test on the Grade 8 Math STAAR. They know the test is bogus and see no point in it. #EDLE5680
@Dedraadams @jessica_hysell @JanaeCapshaw Just think what could be done with three weeks dedicated to quality instruction and hands-on learning! #EDLE5680
