Tasapeli Englantia vastaan.

Absolute beauty from Trent. #ENGFIN
Am I the only one who thinks Bellingham makes this England team weaker, constantly shouting and pointing at other players.
Bin him off. #EngFin
They're putting Trent at LB to accommodate a certain finished RB😭

Lee Carsley's and Marc Guehi's joint press conference ahead of #Finland - #England #NationsLeague
Can we start with team news? Uh, Harry Kane and Jack Grealish both trained this morning. Will they be fit to start, and will Kyle Walker get some minutes for the first time since you took over?
Lee Carsley: Yes, we trained yesterday too. Harry and Jack got through the session. We're in a good position. I think it's important to freshen the team up a bit, but we're confident and in a good place.
Thursday was a difficult night. What did you learn from that defeat, and how have you, personally, handled the extra scrutiny?
Lee Carsley: Well, it’s always tough, the scrutiny we're under. It's nothing I’m not used to, having been a professional footballer for a long time. The reaction is fair. We didn’t perform as well as we can, and I expect a reaction tomorrow night.
Marc, Lee’s worked with a lot of the players before. How has the squad reacted to the defeat, and is there a feeling within the group that you want to put things right for Lee?
Marc Guehi: I think it’s important we put things into perspective. There are a lot of senior players in the team who have dealt with defeats and difficult moments. Everyone’s rallied together, and we’re ready to get a reaction tomorrow.
A lot’s been made of the team you named the other night without a striker. Will we play with a forward tomorrow night?
Lee Carsley: Like I said the other day, it’s something I’ll reflect on in two or three months and be better for it. I wanted to give this job my best shot for the three camps we spoke about. I didn’t want to have any regrets. It was important that we try something different at times, and I think I’ll be a better coach for that. We’ll probably be a little more conventional tomorrow night.
You made comments after the loss against Greece, saying, "Hopefully after the November camp, we’ll be going back to the 21s." What did you mean by that?
Lee Carsley: "Hopefully" is a word I use quite a bit. There are no guarantees in life, including tomorrow. It’s a job I’m really proud of, the under-21s, and I’m massively invested in it. My plan has been the same: to give this job my best for the three camps, and hopefully, we’ll be in a good position.
Marc, Lee made you captain for England under-21s. What’s it like playing under him again, and what do you make of the criticism from the other night?
Marc Guehi: It’s always exciting to play for Lee. He’s someone I respect a lot. What he’s done for me as a player, how he’s helped me at younger ages, it’s because of him I was able to make the step up to the seniors. With the scrutiny, I don’t pay much attention to it. We have standards for ourselves in the camp, and we try to stick to those. It’s important we move on tomorrow and get a reaction.
Do you think tomorrow’s game is a moment to win some trust and support back from the public?
Lee Carsley: I’m not sure. It’s important I have trust and support from the team, and that pays forward. The amount of praise the team and I got from the first two games was great, but we fell below those standards the other night. The most important thing now is getting a reaction. We want the public to trust and love the team because the national team has a huge impact on the public. Hopefully, we can keep building on that.
The team looked vulnerable on the break against Greece. Why do you think that was, now you’ve had a chance to reflect?
Lee Carsley: We didn’t keep the ball well enough in higher areas. We got into good positions. After watching the game back a couple of times, there were points where it wasn’t good enough, but there were a lot of positives. We know we can do a lot better than we’ve shown, and the big thing tomorrow is showing that reaction. The players are really looking forward to it.
Will we see anything different in terms of tactics or selection to make sure the team is more defensively secure tomorrow?
Lee Carsley: I’d expect both.
How do you see your opponent, #Finland?
Lee Carsley: We’re very respectful of the team. We found it difficult at Wembley to break them down, especially in the first 45 minutes. I think they’ll feel confident they can stifle us, but we feel well-prepared.
Marc, you have a religious background. Do you have any rituals before matches?
Marc Guehi: No, not rituals. I just give thanks to the man above and then go out and do what I do.
How does Thursday's result impact your thinking for the next few games, in terms of plotting a route back to League A and getting promotion from the Nations League? How important is that for the camp and for England as a whole?
Lee Carsley: That was the objective from the start of the campaign, and it’s something we’re heading towards. It’s really important. World Cup qualification is also a priority, so it’s important to get back on track.
Marc, is that something the players are conscious of?
Marc Guehi: Absolutely. Every game is important. Every game leads up to the big tournament that we all want to get back to and do our best in. Every opponent and game is vital.
Why didn’t you train here in Helsinki?
Lee Carsley: No real reason. We train at a really good venue back in the UK, which we’re really grateful for. It gives us a chance to work on tactics and set plays. That’s the only reason.
There’s no risk of underestimating the opponent?
Lee Carsley: No, it’s something we do for every game.
