Growing a certain dependence on LNG from a like-minded ally makes more sense than inflicting economic pain on the EU by exposing itself to pro-Russian energy populism in upcoming elections across Europe, starting with Germany.

#EU_Gas: EU gas storages are almost 90% full, or 92.5 bcm, ahead of the Nov 1 deadline set by the EU in 2022. This ensures security of supply for the 2024-25 winter, even if gas transit via Ukraine is interrupted. However, the price may fluctuate in the event of a crisis.
