#EUEqualPayDay is the yearly reminder that the EU gender pay gap remains a persistent reality. Across Europe, women still earn on average 12% less per hour than men, facing a 24.5% pension gap later in life.
This means that, symbolically, from 17 November until the end of the year, women are effectively working for free compared to their male colleagues.
❗The gap is even wider for women of colour.
It is unacceptable that, in 2025, we still have to repeat the obvious: equal work deserves equal pay. We hope that the upcoming EU Pay Transparency Directive will help close this gap and make #EqualPayDay a thing of the past.
