Pediatric myocarditis: Bimodal distribution, occurring most commonly in children (males more than females) under 5 and 15-18 year olds. Sudden death is more common in males. Children can present with nausea, abdominal pain and syncope. Cardiac MRI has a sensitivity of 87% for detection. Exact incidence is unknown, but risk of myocarditis after vaccination is higher in younger men after a second dose of the mRNA vaccine.
