On #InternationalDayfortheEradicationofPoverty we visit the Mission Soup Kitchen at Grassmoor in 1912. We know that the man standing at the top of the stairs holding the post is James MacDonald. He and the others working there must have given a lifeline to many. #EYACommunity

Many mining communities were designed with recreational spaces in mind, such as a large dancing area around a bandstand, as seen on this plan of the Welfare grounds at Ollerton. The whole town was designed from scratch, so it made planning these spaces easier.
