The outer blocks were limestone, but yeah the twenty year timeline is absurd. Quarrying had to be done like this. But today they have steal spikes, so the starting hole was likely drilled with a copper drill, then the copper wedge place inside, this process (pre drilling) would add an immense amount of time.
