Throwback to me chatting to agent extraordinaire @simontrewin over on @writing_ie about my debut children’s book #Elsetime - so much has changed in kidlit publishing in 4 short years, especially for #MG, but gosh that buzz & belief that I have the best job ever still rings true🙌

The Great Flood of London 1928 was the backdrop to my debut children’s book #Elsetime. Tune into @channel5_tv 9.30pm tonight to hear more about the great flood in the great city - only a few short years ago it was considered almost unimaginable 🌍
(Thanks @Crr1Randall 😀)
Disaster strikes when a storm surge triggers a historical event: the River Thames bursts its banks. This is just one of the catastrophic floods that called for the Thames Barrier to be constructed.

The @TimeTunnellers are celebrating their 100th mini-video, each one inspiring young writers to dig deep into the past for their story ideas. Here’s my one, inspired by a little mudlarker in my first book, #Elsetime 💫📝#Teachers #edutwitter
100 videos for schools, inspired by history!
We are celebrating this month, so here are some of our favourites again: this time it's @Eve_Mc_Donnell with a super-inventive one. Also, she designed our lovely logo!

To think when I began writing #Elsetime in 2017 I actually wondered if the idea of a flood in a big city would be too far a stretch for young readers’ imaginations. How much has changed in a few years, and how quickly such a change became normalised. We need another change 🌊🌎👊
On this night, 95yrs ago, The Great Flood of London happened. 14 souls lost their lives when snowmelt water met with a ferocious storm surge by the @Tate. Little was written about it, so I wrote #Elsetime. Read more here: https://t.co/uHU69u2TVV

Ten days to go in the @BBCCiN book auction! ⏰ If you are looking for a special🎄gift for an 8+ reader, my pen is ready to write a special message inside copies of #Elsetime and #TheChestnutRoaster! Bookmarks and postcards included! https://t.co/QsDDs8xLUO

I love when #Elsetime is chosen as a class read - the resulting chats about bravery, historical events, creativity, ND characters, synaesthesia, time-travel and, of course, hagstones and the true(!) story of gift-bearing crows are mind-blowing! Thanks, @PForde123, for choosing it
Day 27 of the #DiscoverIrishKidsBooks Challenge: a book perfect for the classroom.
Elsetime!
Great characters, great plot. This would be perfect for senior classes in Primary School and Juniors in Secondary School.

As always, @MuinbeoArchives offers an intriguing perspective on an eclectic set of stories - honoured to have #Elsetime @EveryWithWords there - thank you, Susan! 🤗
Wrote a wee message in @dubray Dundrum’s copy of #Elsetime today. Such a Goldilocks of a new home for their shop - just right in every way - and they were so lovely! Great to share a shelf @Erika_McGann, @leonaforde1, @AlNolan, @JMitchellwriter & @aliwea #DiscoverIrishKidsBooks

Check out @tanyasweeney’s fab feature in today’s @Independent_ie about the #DiscoverIrishKidsBooks campaign and the wealth of Irish authors we have - beyond thrilled to see #Elsetime included with thanks to Tanya & @HalfwayUpBooks 🥰🙏 So many brilliant Irish books out there 🤩

If you’re having a cuppa take five mins to read @MuinbeoArchives’s book reviews - each so stunningly thorough and beautifully written! Without doubt my favourite #Elsetime review! Even makes me want to read my own book!! 😉

Finished Elsetime in the sun this afternoon @Eve_Mc_Donnell & oh what an ending that was! Took me quite by surprise! Loved the book & Glory's determination, reminding us not to judge and that anything is possible. 💛

READERS! I spy a copy of #Elsetime on those @LittleToller shelves (we authors have a spine-spotting superpower) - if you bring it home with you this week, I’ll happily send you a goodie bag in the post! Choose bookshops, you lovely lot! 🤗🧡💫
Good morning from the shop.

… And so Londoners can sleep easy tonight, The Great Flood of London on this night in 1928 brought great minds together then and for many years ultimately leading to the amazing invention that is the #ThamesBarrier. Last put to work only a few days ago 🤗🌊 #Elsetime
