Field log entry 4: We have now entered hour five of the great playroom-cleanout standoff. Tempers are high, patience is dwindling, no compromise currently in sight. I will not surrender. I will not back down. The fate of Christmas depends upon it. #cleanupyourtoys #endthemess
HAPPY NEW YEAR from @justindotnet!
Another police chase and serious accident along the allegedly "safer" stretch of Seminary Road. Who wants to bet that if there were still four lanes and no islands obstructing the roadway, this might have turned out differently?

Our thanks to @MoSeifeldein, @AmyJacksonVA and @j_chapman99 for supporting Mike Curry, a man of great integrity and a long-time resident who has served the City with distinction in his previous board work, including a time on the Traffic & Parking Board.

Whoever did this gets a free large McFlurry! DM Me with details!
Due to high demand, we’ll be passing these signs out for free!

"Most people in Seminary Hill walk for pleasure and drive to work. Residents are dependent on cars, and many houses have multicar garages.
“It’s not walkable to the Metro, it’s not walkable to the restaurants and bars."
Says it all right there.#endthemess

They told us that the Seminary Road changes would make the street "safer" for all users.
But really, their changes have just incentivized dangerous behavior and made the road less safe - with 13 crashes in the five pre-coronavirus months after diet installation.

7/7/2020: Another novel use for the dedicated turn lane on Seminary. Now it is a preferred parking spot for deliveries. This would be a huge surprise for emergency responders coming up the hill. Another totally unnecessary risk created when reducing lanes from 4 to 2.#endthemess

@ikea_monkey_ We certainly didn't pick the timing of this hearing to be during a pandemic or critically important racial justice work, but the sign owners never asked to be cited for exercising their free speech, either.#endthemess #justinstrafficjam
As Phase 1 Traffic Builds on Seminary's Choked-Off Lanes, No One Uses the Bike Lanes to Nowhere. #endthemess https://t.co/UXtMYKI4dQ
@AlexandriaNow Thanks for the coverage! The sign owners never asked to be cited for exercising their free speech,or the hearing to be during a pandemic or a critical moment to fight for racial justice.Join our FB page (link in Twitter bio)to stand with 1,700+ Alexandrians working to #endthemess!

The city cited a sign protesting the Seminary Road diet for violating zoning ordinances, but the owners say their sign was targeted for political purposes https://t.co/3oorYjSDr0

Weekdays Same As Weekends: No One Uses the Seminary Road Bike Lanes To Nowhere #endthemess: https://t.co/IuiYqgJZJQ
Yet another traffic incident on Seminary Rd. How many accidents does it take to prove the road diet is unsafe? Change it back! This is the 13th documented incident and 23rd known call for service due to a crash since the road diet's construction.#endthemess https://t.co/Vt9CcpGEGR
MARCH 11, 2020, 8:17am: At St. Stephens Road between Colonel Ellis Avenue and Seminary Road. Area residents know all too well that the diet has caused extended backups, like this one.#endthemess @AlexandriaNow @AlexTimesNews @AlexLivingMag @AlexGazette @AlexandriaVATES

@laurenist We believe that sensible transportation policy that doesn't unnecessarily restrict commutes is nonpartisan, and that is why we're happy to have Alexandria citizens of all political parties and persuasions that agree with us and are active in our movement to #endthemess.
