Wildcard: Women like Herrad and Hildegard in #Bell were the head of opening the opportunity for education within their abbeys. This course has helped me realize to appreciate the freedom to read and share knowledge/text as a woman #engl380

@Rebecca48174788 Yes, it's so sad and ridiculous. Books have been thought of as a bad influence at times throughout history and even by some people today #ENGL380

@Rebecca48174788 I love it when stuff for different classes overlap; I feel like I have some kind of inside scoop #ENGL380

The Hours of Jeanne d'Evreux mentioned in #Penketh is a really famous example and also famous in the Western art cannon. Given to her when she married her first cousin and the King of France; she was 14 at the time. #engl380

Herrad didn't bind her manuscript preferring to insert more info "as the lessons evolved." What an awesome, academic, and forward-thinking view for a woman in the so-called dark ages. #McGuire #engl380

Interesting to learn the difference between “healers”- practicing medicine w/o licensure and “physicians”- practicing with licensure #barrett #engl380

@Rebecca48174788 I’m not sure how popular natural healing was in the Middle Ages exactly but I’m sure it was nenof the only ways to heal given the lack of medical technology. Now I think it’s just a popular/trendy thing to do #ENGL380

When you google 'Medieval medicine': doctor's like "hold on, lemme get the teeth snake." #engl380

Haven't finished the readings on medicine yet, but I've been wondering about these guys cuz I keep seeing them pop up. What's up with them? #engl380

@Soymilkwith21 @LivellMegan Totally valid preference and opinion! An ex of mine my age was emotionally abusive. My boyfriend now is 15 years older than me. I love him, we've planned a future together, we get along amazingly well. Depends on the people. #A&H #ENGL380

@rad977lu It is interesting, it seems people have tried to make her out to be younger than she likely was. So maybe she was about 21 and he was about 36? Not unreasonable. #ENGL380 #A&H

I get the love between #A&H but I don’t know how I would’ve reacted if I’d have found out my niece, who I love as my daughter, hypothetically speaking, is having an affair with her tutor. #ENGL380

I find it very interesting that Margery Kempe always refers to herself as “this creature”. Was this a popular thing for the time or was it just the way she wrote? #MK #ENGL380

@theisabelmanu Very interesting take! This might be a stretch but maybe their personalities could be described as introverted and extroverted. Again, might be a stretch... #engl380 #MK

@Soymilkwith21 Some nuns at monastery have rooms that look fairly similar right here in STL. I think it’s a way for them to focus on their relationship with God #ENGL380
