#ExactlyProtocol Hack 👀 Insufficient check in the DebtManager contract (proxy, implementation) as to whether the market address was valid. This allowed the hacker to pass a fake market address, inserting the victim’s address as _msgSender, and thereby drain users’ collateral.
ExactlyProtocol was attacked, resulting in a loss of approximately $7 million.
The attacker obtained initial funding from TornadoCash and bridged it to the same address (0xe4f3) on Optimism through the Optimism Bridge. Subsequently, 0xe4f3 deployed the exploit contract and executed the attack using addresses 0x3747 and 0x4171. The profits were then swapped for approximately 4324 Ether.
Currently, 1500 Ether has been bridged back to Ethereum through the Across Bridge, while 2833 Ether is still in the process of being bridged back to Ethereum via the Optimism Bridge, but the transaction is still in the Challenge Period. We will continue to monitor the attacker's address.

🎙 “Another big job for auditing firms and another important step in the security pipeline of the protocol includes post-hack activities. Hacks happen, but you can see a lot of cases of return of the funds. If a hacker is marked, his addresses are blocked, and bridges are aware of the hack - there is nowhere to hide, thanks to blockchain transparency. So post-hack actions are important and effective. So each protocol (after the careful audit of course) should think about it and work with auditors for a preventive mitigation strategy.”
