The massive ongoing awareness creation on civic responsibility has awaken the consciousness of Nigerians especially Young People on the need to get involved #2023NigeriaElections....June 30 is too short, we join our voice to call on @inecnigeria to #ExtendCVRDeadline
It is against this background that Yiaga Africa joins other CSOs to call on @inecnigeria to extend the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise by at least three weeks to enable Nigerians willing to vote in the 2023 elections to get registered. #ExtendCVRDeadline
While we note that CVR extension will require a shift in time, it does NOT violate, S.9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022 which states that,“the registration of voters, updating & revision of the voter register shall stop not later than 90 days before any election” #ExtendCVRDeadline
We are happy that @YIAGA is joining #ExtendCVRDeadline. We are simply asking @inecnigeria to extend Continuous Voter Registration to capture more willing young Nigerians who are coming out to register in order to participate in the 2023 general elections.

These challenges range from malfunctioning devices, epileptic power supply, capacity gaps and network issues. Thus, we fear that the proposed June 30, 2022 date for the conclusion of the process will prevent a pool of eligible voters from registering to vote #ExtendCVRDeadline
We also discovered that a lot of Nigerians experienced challenges in the course of the online pre-registration or the physical registration process at various INEC offices across Nigeria. #ExtendCVRDeadline
Having conducted sustained voter education outreach and engaged citizens in various communities across Nigeria, we discovered more yearnings and willingness of Nigerians to participate in the CVR process. #ExtendCVRDeadline
