A few facts before a false narrative being peddled takes hold: 1️⃣ The proposed #F1TaskForce has been constituted by the Union Sports Ministry, not NITI Aayog. 2️⃣ Yugal Kishore Joshi chairing it isn’t mysterious. He is NITI Aayog’s Programme Director handling Youth Affairs & Sports, as well as Tourism & Culture portfolios directly relevant to this exercise. @NITIAayog 3️⃣ This is NOT merely a committee to provide “financial incentives” for F1 at Buddh. Its mandate includes taxation, infrastructure, operational issues, economic/tourism benefits, investment, PPP models and development of the wider Indian motorsport ecosystem. 4️⃣ Nor is it a Buddh/UP-only exercise. The Task Force brings together representatives from UP AND Maharashtra, BIC AND Madras International Circuit, @fmsci, Sports, Commerce, Tourism and the tax authorities. @IndiatourismM @YASMinistry @kunalone @UPGovt @uptourismgov @_InvestUP @cbic_india @IncomeTaxIndia @MMSCChennai @vickychandhok 5️⃣ Yes, BIC’s new ownership is relevant. And if public money, tax concessions or incentives are eventually proposed, they should be transparently scrutinised. But ownership followed by formation of a Task Force is not, by itself, evidence that the latter was created to benefit the former. 6️⃣ India has REAL F1 issues to resolve. Taxation, customs, regulatory uncertainty and the commercial framework were central problems during the 2011–13 #IndianGP era. Examining them is hardly an invented requirement. 7️⃣ In fact, there is already an interesting precedent the Task Force should examine: MotoGP successfully raced at the SAME Buddh International Circuit in 2023. How its tax/regulatory structure was worked out between the stakeholders could provide valuable lessons for F1. Debate whether India should bring #F1 back. Question the economics. Scrutinise every proposed incentive. Absolutely.
