Judicial appointments, preferments, & elevations have become proxies for political #tealeaves in #Nigeria. So, it is useful to follow them closely.
The Federal Judicial Service Commission #FJSC, has transmitted its list of 12 priority candidates for elevation to @NGCourtofAppeal. I posted that up yesterday. To assess that list properly, it is useful to get a sense of who did not make it from the original 48. Here is a sampling:
1. The 2nd wife of the Governor of Bayelsa State, @govdouyediri, became a judge of the High Court of Bayelsa State in 2022. She was put forward from the state for elevation over many more experienced & dutiful seniors. The FJSC has slowed down that express train from the Governor's bedroom for now.
2. In Kebbi State, the Governor had an annointed candidate who was supposed to go in ahead of a much more senior & more respectable nominee. The Governor's annointing oil is on reserve.
3. The wife of the President of @NatIndCourtNig was appointed a judge of @fcthighcourt in 2022 & was pushed for elevation from Taraba State again ahead of many more experienced & frankly more qualified possibilities. The FJSC has slowed that down. If it changes at @njcNig, we will be here to say so.
4. Then there is this guy from the Plateau who is associated with the acquisition of a very expensive mansion in Maitama that cld never have been purchased from legitimate judicial emoluments (including allowances). He has not made the cut from Plateau.

@fcthighcourt @CourtOfAppealNG @FederalHigh The question needs to be asked: why is the #FJSC violating its own rules & whose interests is it serving is do it so blatantly?
Last month, the same #FJSC put forward Justice Eleojo Enenche of @fcthighcourt to the @CourtOfAppealNG. But he was only appointed a judge in Nov 2021. That makes him less thn 2 yrs as a judge in total. 9 months of that he spent attached to another judge.
