Functional Neurological Disorder isn’t the only condition with historical links to “hysteria”. Resurrecting one of medicine’s most damaging labels to describe patients in 2026 is indefensible. Leave it in the history books. #FND

Whatever your views on #FND, please remember that real people with genuine disabilities sit behind this diagnosis. Reducing patients to “hysteria” has a long history of delaying understanding, delaying treatment and damaging trust. HCPs should have learnt that lesson by now.
