@sanjaisingh Yes, forced annuity makes NPS a poor choice for any significant investments in spite of a lucrative entry.
It is a typical #FOOPS moment.

Investing without being guided by a customised investing strategy is like starting towards an unknown destination without an aid of Google Maps.
You won't even know when you lose direction.
This is a typical FOOPS moment.

@dmuthuk Returns are not the only reason one invests.
Liquidity, Cashflow, Safety are a few others.
It's a typical FOOPS moment if you are just chasing returns.

Avoid Dividend Mutual Funds.
Dividends are derived by reducing the fund NAV and taxed higher than capital gains tax.
Fund Houses sell the idea of 'dividend', but it's not meant for mutual funds.
It's a typical FOOPS moment.

- Retired
- With no financial dependants
- Home maker

Both Direct and Regular Funds are launched on the same day with the same NAV.
But Direct MF will always have a higher NAV than regular MF (and the difference will keep compounding over time) because there is no broker commission in Direct MF.

Price rise in gold has brought Sovereign Gold Bond's yields low for new investors.
This is happening after a long time that the most recent SGB is also giving max 2% yield.
Liquidity is not the only reason you should keep a portfolio balanced.
An imbalanced portfolio (even if it is 100% stocks) will lead to poor returns compared to a balanced portfolio. This is a typical #Foops moment.

Index / Passive Funds are flawed by design.
Yes, that's true even for large cap funds.
Out of 52 Large Cap Passive Funds, 48 underperformed their benchmarks.
Out of 30 Large Cap Active Funds, 6 underperformed their benchmarks.

Most people don't understand or take the pain of calculating their own family inflation.
They assume that actual inflation is what the government publishes.
This can be a disastrous mistake when planning for freedom.

@Ravisutanjani You are missing a core principal of investing in a volatile asset like #Gold - to invest systematically.
Inspite of all the positives of #SGB, non availability of #SIP makes it a risky investing proposition for any investor.
I proved it in the book #FOOPS.

@ActusDei @shilpaanand Cashflow (pension) can easily be created by investing money in a combination of equity & debt funds, and setting an appropriate SWP.
Pension (NPS annuity) is fully taxed.
Also, it doesn't offer the liquidity that funds do.
It's a typical #foops moment.
