Russian stand-up comedian Artemy Ostanin has been sentenced to five years and nine months in a penal colony for an on stage comment.
Ostanin was found guilty on charges of inciting hatred and insulting feelings, Mediazona is reporting. Earlier, the prosecutor requested 5 years and 11 months in a penal colony for the comedian.
The reason for the persecution of Ostanin was his jokes on the YouTube show 'Standup in 60 Seconds'. In one, the comedian talked about a man with a disability who crashed into him on a skateboard in an underpass. According to investigators, he was talking about a participant in the war in Ukraine.
