🚨Harry Kane after his brace was asked about Anthony Gordon saying Lamine Yamal deserves the Ballon d’Or ahead of him: 🗣️ Harry Kane: “I know Gordon well, and he knows me well enough by now. So honestly, when I heard what he said, I wasn’t surprised. “I wouldn’t expect much different from someone who spends an entire season playing alongside Lamine at Barcelona. “Think about it. I get to play with Anthony during international breaks. Maybe two or three weeks at a time. He spends the entire season with Lamine, trains with him every day, plays matches with him, shares the dressing room with him and sees everything he does up close. “So of course he’s going to speak highly of him. Of course he wants to stay in his good graces. If your teammate asks you who should win the Ballon d’Or, you’re probably not going to point at someone else and say, ‘No, it’s Harry.’ “But I’m not offended by it. “Anthony is a fantastic player. Lamine is a fantastic player. They’ve both got qualities that can change games. “But I also know what I bring to football. “I know how many goals I’ve scored. I know what I’ve done for England, what I’ve done at club level, the consistency I’ve had over the years and the amount of responsibility I’ve carried. “Tonight I scored two goals for England. That doesn’t automatically make me the Ballon d’Or winner, just like one opinion doesn’t suddenly take me out of the conversation. “That’s the thing about this award. Everyone has an opinion. “Some people will look at goals. Some will look at trophies. Some will look at individual performances, consistency or what a player does in the biggest matches. “And that’s fine. “I don’t need Anthony Gordon to tell me I’m good enough. I don’t need anyone to campaign for me. “If people believe Lamine deserves it, that’s their opinion. If they believe I deserve it, that’s their opinion. “And if Gordon doesn’t recognize what I can offer, I’m perfectly comfortable with that. “I’m happy that plenty of other people do. “And honestly, if one day nobody does, I’m still going to know. I’ve spent too many years proving myself on the pitch to start needing another player to validate me now.”
