FAKE MEDICINES WORTH ₹5 CRORE: A DEADLY RACKET UNDER INVESTIGATION https://t.co/YEfhhw4ldK A Bengaluru pharmacy owner, Viresh Kumar Jain, has been arrested in an investigation into a suspected counterfeit-medicine network. Authorities reportedly seized medicines worth around ₹5 crore, along with fake labels, invoices and equipment used for repackaging. Investigators suspect the network may have supplied medicines to 90+ hospitals and clinics. The video urges people to share Jain's image widely and alleges that the operation had been running for about five years. But one distinction matters: these are allegations under investigation, not a final judicial finding of guilt. If counterfeit or expired life-saving medicines really reached patients, the consequences could be devastating. Medicines are not commodities to be counterfeited. When profit enters the space between a patient and a life-saving drug, the cost can be measured in human lives. The investigation must establish the full supply chain, identify affected medicines and hospitals, and ensure accountability through due process.
