Important Category Changes for 2026 There seems to be a lot of confusion on exemption categories for 2026 in the "new" reduced card PGA Tour. Below is a recap of the important things... It's kinda long, but it's relevant to what's happening THIS WEEK. PGAT will release the entire detailed categories in the next week or so, so I won't do that, nor will I touch on EVERY category, but here's the key points. Signature Events - Qualification for those will be the same as this year. EXCEPT Sentry has been cancelled so 2025 winners not already exempt for Sig events will be slotted in the RBC Heritage. Top-100 - Categories Top-100 and above are basically the same as this year's top-125. EXCEPT Medicals have been moved down to Conditional status (more on that below), standard Sponsor Exemptions have been reduced from 8 to 4... and some events have lost their MQ's, while some others have had 4 MQ's reduced to 2. RESHUFFLE CATEGORY - Forget everything we knew thru this year; it's all different in 2026. DPWT/KFT/Q-School/PGATU (prior reshuffle category) will be separate numbered categories next year and none of them will reshuffle. Below them are a few others including 25/50 Career money guys and Life Members. This is the end of the Exempt Categories, and NONE of them reshuffle. The reason is they don't need to as all players in the above categories will get into ALL standard regular priority list, non-Signature/Players events next year. All those events will "flex" up if necessary to accomodate all of the above. EXCEPT the WMPO will not flex up beyond 120, and the DPWT co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open is not considered a "regular event" for these purposes, but there is an alternate event to the Scottish that will get everyone and a lot more in. So with that in mind... All the exempt players should be eligible for 20 weeks worth of events thru the Wyndham, with the exception of maybe 1/2 dozen that don't get into WMPO. Then all will get into what looks like 7 of the 8 anticipated fall events (Japan is non-standard criteria). So basically it's 27 events we're talking about here. All but maybe 1/2 dozen players above will be exempt and be able to get in all 27. - - - - KEY CONDITIONAL CATEGORIES 101-110 is a new category after top-10s from previous event. This category will still get into most everything, and will NOT reshuffle. This group should get into all but maybe 2-4 events. Think of it's place in the priority list as similar to the TOP of the current KFT reshuffle category. Medicals - and a few others come in here... 111-125 category - This is the 1st group that DOES RESHUFFLE. It'll do so with 300 made cuts players (after the Masters). They should get into events consistent with what the bottom half of the current reshuffle category gets. Could be as many as 23-24... but at least 20+. 126-150 category... this is where things start to get dicey. This category reshuffles (after the Masters) with all other conditional categories (Past champs, veteran members, etc). It is not impossible that a player who remained 126 in this category all year could get 17-18 starts... but 12-14 is more likely. And of course the further down you go, starts drop off real fast. Again... this is already too long... but the basics of Categories below top-100 are important to understand what so many players are playing for this week. I'll be happy to answer questions .
