@AceHighTurf So.. is your sand really acidic and loaded with Fe or the groundwater or both? The #FerricWheel it goes round and round Fe2 to Fe3.. How do you beat it? Drown your drains so there's no air, risky.. neutralise the source, difficult or flush and pray it don't cement up your gravel

Not quite #RiversRunningRed but there's some serious bacteria taking advantage of the Iron... #Ochre #FerricWheel

All that glitters isn't Gold...... Some very active #IronOchre #IRBs feeding off the oxidation of iron rich soil solution #FerrousToFerric ..and by feeding I don't mean eating... ⚡ The #FerricWheel 🎡 keeps on turning...

Look at the #GlutinousMass that #IronRelatedBacteria create as they feed off the energy exchanged as #FerrousBecomesFerric... #IronOchre 🤔 All it needs is oxygen..... #FerricWheel #Bioclogging

Which came first #ChickenOrTheEgg? does biology take advantage of the #FerricWheel or maybe manipulate it.. 🤔🧐 #IronRelatedBacteria vary with level of issue, yes its the environmentals but #ShelfordsRule still applies, You can't change Fe in the soil but can manage its mobility

@PenderSuper It is just finding those #TexturalBoundaries & oxidizing #FerricWheel It's toxic to roots & often find on lateral deposits it will affect water movement. chemically in that concentration it will likely affect availability of other nutrients.. do not stand on them in a storm!⚡😁

Hmmmmmm.🤔..... Some very interesting colours in the ground today.... Part of the problem, consequence or both...... ? Inherent to the soil type regardless I know what I think... 🤓 #FerricWheel #IronPan #Bioclogging

Whilst #Fungi was few & far between The #FerricWheel is spinning furiously with lots of #Ochre from some very busy #IRB iron bacteria.. gutted I had no pots.. 😬 May pop back tomorrow to collect a bit... 🤓🔬

@PaceBarry @PenderSuper @605turf @TurfgrassZealot Lots of energy required to restore the optimum conditions to remedy this too!😉😅 Love your use of the term #Ferricwheel There are lots wheels in the world of soil biology. Keep them turning avoid any #wheelspin

@PenderSuper @605turf @TurfgrassZealot The #FerricWheel starts spinning generally due to environmental factors.. anaerobic.. acidic.. the biology will take advantage of the opportunity 🤔 there is lots of energy involved in the process and not everything 'eats' to live Nice to see mention of biology in this.......
