This Early-Medieval material was found by a metal detectorist. Realising the significance of the find, they stopped & followed our Emergency Excavation Protocol allowing the find to be professionally excavated, preserving important context. #FindFriday https://t.co/YiTuOIB2sw

This is a silver miliarensis of Constantine II, https://t.co/6UFEjb02Hq 337-340. The reverse legend means "Joy of the Roman People". It was intended to foster a sense of unity and optimism, especially during times of stability or celebration. #FindFriday https://t.co/7h4KdZXIzn

I was pleased to match up this lady with drapery with a sherd from Corbridge in Stanfield and Simpson. This decorated bowl was made at Les Martres-de-Veyre in Central Gaul in c. AD 100-125 #RomanPottery #Samian #FindFriday

Something #BronzeAge for #FindFriday as I'll be at Bronze Age Forum over the weekend! This spearhead was found in two seperate pieces by two different detectorists but on the same day and in basically the same spot. Both of the detectorists seemed happy to share the find though!

Downtown Corpus Christi in 1935. Our bayfront has changed quite a bit since this time. One of the biggest changes is the seawall. What can you find in this picture that is exciting? #FindFriday #TAMUCC #Archives

#FindFriday: Incised into a reindeer foot-bone probably some 15,000 years ago, this engraving represents two hinds. The realistic rendering of the drawing is amazing!
Found in the Grotte de Chaffaud. It's the first finds of paleolithic mobile art, discovered in the 1830s. 1/2

This is a leg from a medieval zoomorphic Aquamanile, a vessel used to hold water for hand washing. They are mostly of Continental manufacture. It's the hind leg of a quadruped, possibly a lion, stag of other fanciful animal, real or imaginary. #FindFriday https://t.co/TxnDcMESCh

This, elegant but sadly broken Roman dragonesque brooch is from Wold Newton in East Yorkshire (DUR-1CF3D2).
Openwork brooches like this are among the earliest dragonesques and this is one of the earliest in Yorkshire, probably late first century.

This thin bronze sheeting, some with stamped decoration, would have decorated any number of wooden or leather objects, giving such items a lustrous and reflective quality #finds #findfriday #artefacts #museum

Our #FindFriday comes from the Gambel collection. Much of this collection consists of letters exchanged between brothers David, William, and Thomas from the 1830's-1860's. Note the beautifully illustrated stationary featuring wildlife and San Antonio landmarks. #TAMUCC #Archives

This rather small bronze plate contains an inscription containing 108 runes. Whatโs interesting about it is that this is a Galdr; this is a sort of incantation or magical chant. These are believed to have been sung with a high pitch. ๐งต#findfriday

A brown pelican looking majestic. This image was found in a stack of postcards from Aransas Pass, with no date. #FindFriday #TAMUCC #Archives

For this #FindFriday: A birding photo! Local birding legend Connie Hagar and a friend laugh together as they stand facing the water. Also pictured is a pelican who seems supremely unruffled by the laughing ladies on the shore. #TAMUCC #Archives

#FindsFriday #FindFriday #FridayFlint Natural thin sliver of flint with an interesting pattern, but has it been shaped?
