@marcthevet @Animal_Watch @_AnimalAdvocate @Protect_Wldlife @Animals1st @CARIADCAMPAIGN @annawebbdogs @katelawler @PeterEgan6 @BBCSussex @Raystede #FireworksPetTips Firework’s never bothered my english springer spaniel but he did have massive floppy ear’s (obviously perfect for being a gun dog) but my advice would be to put music on iff your dog (or cat) start’s noticing all the noise & get’s stressed out.

For particularly nervous pets, contact your vet or behaviourist in advance for advice on safe meds, plug-ins, sprays, anxiety jackets, etc. Keep water bowls topped up as anxious pets may drink more. Check microchip details are up to date too in case of escapes. #FireworksPetTips

Shut all external doors/windows, keep curtains tightly shut & provide quiet safe space/den/room filled with favourite toys/treats/blankets. Distract pets with TV/radio/music (reggae works apparently!), act as if nothing's wrong/different & reward calm behaviour. #FireworksPetTips

With 1000s of puppies purchased during #Lockdown, insufficient socialisation may mean increased anxiety. Please be as prepared as possible, including walking dogs in the afternoon, feeding large meals to encourage sleeping & getting them used to firework sounds. #FireworksPetTips

One of the scariest, most stressful times of year for pets & wildlife, with unpredictable loud noises, strong smell of explosives & flashing lights. Also with no public gatherings, we'll most likely see more back garden displays, so please check with neighbours. #FireworksPetTips
