Can't say it often enough.
Prioritising and enabling second doses is privileging the ALREADY privileged. Our community deserves to be protected. #firstdosesfirst
We had strong priors from reference class of older vaccines and AZ study to predict ~3-6 mo was better. Plus basic math shows #FirstDosesFirst would have saved a lot of lives if implemented from getgo last Nov. So ppl are right to be frustrated FDA/CDC didn't go w longer interval
We also learned that vaccine doses are best spread out longer than the initial 3-4 weeks. Six months acts as a great reminder to our bodies of what this virus looks like.
Some are frustrated that we are learning things like this as we go. Maybe think about it like this…12/

Vaccinate Maori and Pacific
Interesting explanation from @PeterHotez. But I disagree when he says "We needed to do that schedule.. to save lives". In the early days w limited vaccine supply & distribution channels we could have saved more lives by going with #FirstDosesFirst as @ATabarrok had well argued.
