@juliyashiki But then again, when treatment works and symptoms subside, that is a win regardless of a clinician wanting you to get an #FND tattoo
@juliyashiki Quite insane how a differential (even though a very uncommon one) would effectively be brushed off like this just because #FND just happens to be on this person's file, but that aside there is actual cases on file for neurology vs dental infections

Today’s the day! I am ready to push myself to do this, will take weeks of recovery time but I want to stand at the submit one last time and scream I’m not beaten by all my chronic conditions yet! Please help support me and share etc
#FND #FNDawareness
I’m doing this event Friday 21st August 2026.
I appreciate all the support and help
Doing so in aid of #FNDawareness and more info and discussions on my TikTok and YouTube where I’ll be posting videos (live can’t be done with mobile reception being limited on the mountain)

Ah, that screenshot again. I think we’ve all seen it enough to know it by heart. We know the history, nothing to see here. FND is physiological, and “many, many” people with #FND wouldn’t fit an explanation of prescribed drug harm. Going round in circles gets us nowhere.
@anamarz_amz The mind not working properly is a symptom, not a root cause.
FND is considered a psychological issue behind closed doors (or not so closed). Many, many diagnosed with FND have physiological problems, like prescribed drug harm, and it’s being ignored.

This is illogical. “Functional” and “neurological” are not opposites. Migraine for instance can profoundly disrupt neurological function without a structural lesion explaining the symptoms. Nobody concludes migraine therefore isn’t neurological. Why invent that rule for #FND?
Noting that Hoover’s sign can appear in organic disease is a valid point. Aggressive dismissal and treating "context" as a decisive fix misses the larger issue: incomplete understanding of #FND mechanisms, known false positives, and high comorbidity rates. Diagnostic certainty is more limited than often claimed. This is not settled science.
It was great to have three new members join seven of our regular members at our #FNDIreland peer support meeting in Galway at the weekend. A big THANK YOU to all those who attended and shared their experience of living with #FND, together we support each other. 💚🧡
@GalwayCIL

Apparently patients are being “scammed” by doctors into believing their #FND diagnosis. Meanwhile, NHS England recognises Functional Neurological Disorder as one of seven core subspecialties within specialised adult neurology. Quite the elaborate scam they’ve got going on. 🙄
Apparently neuroscience stops being neuroscience the moment psychology is mentioned. Who knew. 🤷♀️
Meanwhile, Functional Neurological Disorder research investigates brain networks, predictive processing, attention, agency, motor control and more.
But sure, Freud. #FND

We cannot simply assume that the diagnostic mistakes historically made under hysteria and conversion disorder have disappeared because the label is now #FND. A change in terminology does not eliminate diagnostic bias, premature closure or the misattribution of physical disease. Without evidence that the underlying reasoning has fundamentally changed, the same mistakes can still be made under a newer and more respectable umbrella.
Functional Neurological Disorder is a “physical” condition, so why say otherwise? The brain and nervous system are physical. #FND affects how they function, producing neurological symptoms. “Functional rather than structural” does not mean “non-physical”.
Diagnosed with #FND after an ENT suggested Ménière’s? Her symptoms vanished after vestibular nerve section surgery.
