It’s a shame that people are surprised by the Polygon PoS parallel execution from a year ago - probably because zkEVM was getting all the hype at the time It’s also a shame that people don’t talk about the novel synergies between Polygon 2.0 interop layer + new (re)staking layer Aggregating proofs from multiple sequencers - all of which share the same staking contract - doesn’t just 100x L1 scalability (an aggregated proof for 2 Rollups has the same gas footprint on the L1 as an aggregated proof for 2000) , the fact that the proofs for multiple rollups colocate with each other allows them to trustlessly handle precommitments.. no “bridging” of proofs needed to get them on the same layer. And the fact that those rollups share a staking smart contract means that violations of precommitments (IE one rollup taking from another) means that we don’t need to bridge any restitution. When used together, it unlocks *native* scaling and cross rollup composability. It’s a total game changer… … And on top of that stack, FastLane will combine PFL (validator-aligned MEV layer with smart contract guarantees), ClearingHouse (atomic unstaking / clearing protocol), and Atlas (generalized intent settlement engine and orderflow auction, powered by execution abstraction) to build something considered impossible: the world’s first *real* atomic cross chain execution engine. From *Ethereum* to Polygon. And no, I don’t mean atomic inclusion. I mean *real* atomic execution. Imagine an Ethereum user placing a large swap order on 1inch (or similar) on Ethereum. The trade gets split between a few different pools and settles atomically for the exact amount they wanted to swap - it’s all one tx. That’s how it works now. Thats also how it’ll work in the future. The only difference is that if the user digs deep in their etherscan logs they’ll realize that two of the four pools used were actually on Polygon PoS. Oh, and they paid way less gas than usual. That is the future we’re unlocking. I know it’s “impossible”, but they also said that about: - stopping sandwich attacks ✅ - building an MEV protocol that works with the relay turned off ✅ - building an MEV protocol that doesn’t require validators to run a custom client or relay ✅ - building a protocol to handle the instant unstaking of nontradeable, raw stake ✅ - building a dapp-aligned MEV protocol on ethereum Mainnet that can retain all the users’ MEV and still put the tx in the public mempool, even when the builder is adversarial ✅ We’re got a great track record of building the “impossible” and we do it with trustless smart contracts, not centralized infra. It’s amazing what designs are unlocked once we move away from centralization and actually advance DeFi… and Polygon is leading the way in fostering an ecosystem that promotes innovation. (Btw, the games are amazing too - people who look down on gaming are missing out on how advanced that sector of DeFi has become - it’s responsible for a ton of breakthroughs). I’m excited for Polygon. I’m excited for FastLane. And I’m excited for 2024. Let’s build the impossible. Again.
