#FoodMarketHygiene #MarketHandlingPractises Earlier yesterday, I participated in the market hygiene assessment together with a team from @mccnsa2014 where #KalerweMarket We assessed the following parameters -MarketHygiene -Handling practises -Packaging materials -Storage Materials -Freshness of food -Hygiene of handlers -Methods of display -Waste Management -General hygiene of the food area -Dumpness and moist content in the food environment. Observations 🥦We generally found out, during rainy season, the practises are irresistible due to poor drainage facilities where sewage and dumpness on food is too much. 🍈🫓Waste disposal is still poor for home generated wastes. 🍓Buvera distribution was too much 🫑Meat stalls were fresh 🥬Vegetables and fruits were fresh 🥥Food handlers lack aprons and handwashing facilities were no where to be seen. Recommendations -We appeal to food handlers to buy head gears and aprons -Install tables or wooden racks for food display -Store food in cool dry place -Appeal to @KCCAUG to offer disposable areas for home generated wastes --@KCCAUG offer and Foster such quarterly training and health education, offer IEC materials on disease prevention and common diseases from poor handling practises. Observations
