Two Baha’i Sisters Detained Without Charge for More Than 50 Days in Shiraz Prison It was learned on 21 May 2026 that more than 50 days after the arrests of Mahsa and Mandana Sotoudeh, two Baha’i sisters from Shiraz, both remain in detention at Adelabad Prison without charge. Mahsa Sotoudeh, 25, was arrested on 29 March 2026, while her sister Mandana Sotoudeh, 38, was arrested separately on 1 April 2026, during operations carried out by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The arrests were carried out without the presentation of judicial warrants. Following initial interrogations in security detention facilities, both women were transferred to the women’s ward of Adelabad Prison. Despite repeated efforts by family members to obtain information from judicial and security authorities in Shiraz, no explanation has been provided regarding the reasons for their arrests or the nature of any charges against them. Judicial authorities have also refused to issue bail for their release pending trial.
