What would you buy at the baker’s shop? Five currant buns? Jam doughnuts with sprinkles on top? A cookie with chocolate chips? Here are just a few of the fabulous line drawings from our P2 pupils. #FoundationsofWriting
Miss Gallacher was blown away by these P1 star writers from P1/2 who not only managed to do a fabulous drawing but wrote “it is wet” independently 🌟🌟🌟 #FoundationsOfWriting #Literacy
Super black line drawings in P1 last week based on the story ‘Not a Box’ by Antoinette Portis. Pupils used their imagination to draw what their ‘not a box’ would be. We had rockets, unicorns, houses and race cars. Can you tell what we turned our boxes into? #FoundationsOfWriting
Primary 1’s #Writing focus today was ‘I am eating lunch’. The pupils did a super job of adding lots of details to the drawing with realistic features. Then they described their drawings in detail for the adults to scribe. #WeAreWriters #FoundationsOfWriting @literacyfor_ALL
Muddy Monday journals 🌳☔️
In P1 we record our outdoor experiences. It’s amazing to see the progress they’ve made in just a few weeks. You can see them exploring sounds and symbolically representing their thoughts and ideas #foundationsofwriting @M_Penfold1 @Clerkhillschool
Today in #P1THillside our writing focus was our hands. We played with honey to inspire us to draw sticky hands. 🍯 #foundationsofwriting
Symbolically representing thoughts and ideas is an important precursor to writing. Do we value and support young children's drawing as much as their writing? #FoundationsOfWriting
Reflecting on our forest visit and we see emerge: the scientist, the communicator, the writer and the storyteller. They reveal so much of who they are, it’s a privilege to listen. 🌲🌳
Children use blocks to enable storytelling in their play, supporting the development of both enactive and discursive narrative. #FoundationsOfWriting
Blocks definitely rock!! 💙
Using blocks & open-ended resources to represent what they see in their world around them! 🌍
Our learners created the most amazing “Hovercraft”, “Electric car” and “A boat that sailed out to the deep blue sea!”🚗⛵️🌊

9. Making up words or misspelling hurts
Words that are identified as “unknown language” are given 0.01, which is a huge penalty.
Anything under 1 is bad.
This is really bad.
Simple black line drawings are always sooo effective. Absolutely love how our calendars turned out. #foundationsofwriting #emergingliteracy #P1Nessies PS thank you @MrsWebbHolm 😍 #magpied
