Today, just minutes before the official weigh-in of what will be my first title defense, my team informed me of another vicious and tyrannical act of the Cuban dictatorship against me. As it turns out, the Cuban Embassy in Japan contacted the local network broadcasting the event to expressly prohibit them from playing the Cuban National Anthem prior to my presentation. In addition to this, they demanded that I not use the Cuban flag in my uniform or anywhere else. Needless to say, I strongly denounce this vile attempt at intimidation. I am a free man. The anthem, like the flag, does not belong to the regime. Both the flag and the anthem I carry in my heart. What they don't know is that far from silencing me, they have further motivated me to achieve success and continue to raise my voice and clamor for the freedom of my homeland.
