Mandera County Contradictions:
On a day the Takaba water crisis Paybill youth team delivered 7 water bowsers to Qalqacha village outside Takaba town to help the suffering, Mandera Governor flew by a helicopter from Mandera to the town & dismissed reports of acute water crises. The 3 smart guys in the chopper are the MCAs of the worst affected areas. Takaba is only 3 hrs drive from Mandera but they chose to hire the chopper all the way from Nairobi, that costs min. Usd 2,500 per hour. If they hire for the 3 days tour, it's charges can easily be upto sh 8 million for the ride! Positioning & repositiong alone takes 10 hrs. This money can supply 200 water bowsers of water, enough to supply 10 villages twice a day for a month. But who cares? It's public money. Unfortunately, the @eacc can only act if the process of the chopper's hire is not in compliance with the law. But morally, it is irresponsible & insensitive to waste resources when your people are in dired need! They say power corrupts & absolute power corrupts absolutely!
