Yes, we need foundations and donors to move away from single-issue funding to funding cross-issue movement work. Funding multi-issue organizing better reflects the lived experiences of our communities & better addresses the root causes of the oppressions we face. #FundOrganizing
1: When I accidentally found my way into philanthropy in 1998, I had no idea that there was an accepted set of practices to follow. Through a combination of having no clue & listening to community organizers, I remained unaware of the norms of the grant-making world.
6- Make them accountable for impact, and if you like the result, give them a bunch more money (i.e. follow @NonprofitAF's advice and add a few more zeroes to your check). They’ll respect you for it.
