Our office found that Mississippi spends a higher percentage of our education dollars on administration than every other state in the South.
WLBT also ran an article earlier this year which stated that Mississippi’s average teacher salary is the lowest in the country.
State Auditor @ShadWhite has called for the legislature to require at least 50% of all education funds be directed to teacher salaries. This would cause school districts to redirect money away from unnecessary administration costs and send it to where it’s needed most: inside the classroom.
I’m telling you: mediocrity doesn’t cut it for our children. They deserve the absolute best so they can reach their full potential.
