Listening to @EnglishOER at #futurewriting. I think we need to discuss on-site examinations in much greater detail. I think we underestimate how well writing competence can be demonstrated in three hours and 1000 words. 1/2
My takeaway so far is that #futurewriting is something very different from what we normally think of as writing. Getting language models to produce prose will probably be a valuable skill in the future (like finding information on the Internet is a skill). But it's not writing.
