Empathetic feedback is a technique that pairs the content of the feedback with acknowledgment of the receiver’s feelings.

Problem solving isnt an independent activity. “The process of discussing a problem w/ others helps ss think more critically about the steps to finding a solution. It can also help them discover that problems can have more than one solution.” #BoldSchool #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Many of our ss do not have intrinsic motivation. Use self-assessment as a way to grow that. “When ss have frequent opportunities to self-assess, they begin to attribute their learning to internal beliefs. “ #BoldSchool #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Watch out for my students next year! I have been shying away from using lecturing due to the difficulty of incorporating tech into my lessons. Thanks to Bold School now I have tools to use my favorite way of teaching! #GEVSDSummerBookStudy
Students‘ attention is hard to gain and easy to lose. Why not be #BoldSchool and use worked examples like #screencastify to let students watch and rewatch you solve problems and the thought process behind them? #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Direct instruction is multifaceted and intentional. Use tech like Slides Q & A, #Peardeck, #Padlet, or #Kahoot for formative assessments to know when and what to move on to! #BoldSchool #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Ch 6: It was good to see that bold schools don’t throw out direct instruction because I fully believe it has its place in the classroom, specifically with teaching a new concept. However there are ways to make it better and to gauge understanding throughout. #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Ch 5: VOCABULARY!!! This is such an important piece of comprehension. I have struggled with the Frayer model because students struggled with finding an image to use. I now have a plan for implementing with technology, google slides, and google image search. #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Ch 4: Socratic Seminars are something I have not used, as I thought integration into my math classroom was a stretch. However the steps laid out in Bold schools gives good insight into how scripted and leveled DOK questions can push that thinking. #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Using technologies such as #nearpod or #Kahoot will ensure all the students in your class have a voice. The goal of questions is not to get kids to answer; it’s to get the to think! Thinking questions will bring rigor to your lessons. #GEVSDSummerBookStudy #BoldSchool

Using tech tools like #EdPuzzle is totally #BoldSchool and can result in big gains But we must plan strategically by starting with the academic outcome, avoid using tech for tech’s sake, and use questions with purpose that build on rigor & relevance. #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Ch 2: I am excited to jump into applying the Rigor/ Relavance Framework along with my working knowledge of SAMR. Having a framework is very helpful in guiding planning so that it can be done strategically! #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Ch 1: the message that most stood out to me was that regardless of what technology you bring into your classroom, the instructional strategies you choose and the relationships you build with your students will always have the largest impact. #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Technology should be used as an asset or tool to elevate instruction and reach a goal, not replace the teacher. #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

“It’s not just a framework, it’s a mindset.” We are constantly inundated with strategy after strategy, framework after framework, but it’s more than that. By blending effective strategies with engaging technologies we achieve the end goal of LEARNING! #GEVSDSummerBookStudy

Excited to start my summer Book study on blended learning! Love the concept of not throwing out the “old school techniques” that work but rather incorporating them with “new school technologies.” #GEVSDSummerBookStudy
