The main street of #Gohardasht in #Karaj is being repaved. This may be presented as “urban renewal” or routine construction, but the timing, just one month after the massacre of protesters in #Iran, makes that explanation weak. Why?
1.Erasing physical evidence
Asphalt can preserve bloodstains, weapon traces, or marks left by military vehicles. Stone paving removes the previous surface entirely, eliminating the possibility of later documentation.
2.Disrupting scene reconstruction
In human rights investigations, the type of street surface can help determine bullet impact points, firing direction, and distance. Changing the surface makes such technical reconstruction far more difficult.
3.Rewriting collective memory
Urban space carries memory. Redesigning a site of killing without preserving visual or sensory traces can be an attempt to erase or fade events from public memory.
4.A display of power
Rapid reconstruction of the same location signals control. It suggests the authorities feel neither accountable nor concerned about independent narratives.
Individually, these possibilities are not conclusive. Taken together, they form a coherent logic.
This looks less like a normal construction project for the families of the dead and more like a crime scene cleanup and narrative management by the perpetrator.
