My 3 brothers were Gen X., and let me tell you, it was the beginning of what we are seeing today! Correction #GenJones was the last of the Mohicans!
Where's all my Gen X brothers and sisters?

@DangerousThinkg And,, this. We are closer to Gen X than the baby boom generation,, if I may chime in. #NotBoomers

@TheMaineWonk #GenJones enters the room..we liv d through it AND are still job hunting from COVID layoffs while retirement is out of reach.
Technically Gen x or #genjones and to paint with such a wide brush is a losing game. Not everyone in that generation, or your generation, or any generation has the exact same circumstances. Around them or as part of their upbringing.
The difference seems to be the complaining.
Dear small percentage of Boomers who can actually be told things:
Here are some facts, to help you understand what Millennials are trying to tell you.
Here is what the middle-class experience is right now. Not for losers, but for your average hardworking, but unexceptional, dude born in 1992.
- No company pensions. Ever. No job offers this.
- Laid off every 2 to 3 years.
- No vacations. Ever. If you are lucky, you have 10 to 15 days of annual "PTO" (paid time off). But this is not vacation. This is your sick days. You can take a break with whatever's left over.
- If you are not lucky, you have "unlimited" PTO. Which sounds nice, but in practice it means you get sick days and nothing else.
- They pay social security taxes, but they know they will never receive those benefits, because the system will crash first.
- Not promoted. Ever.
- No annual raises. Instead, these are effectively pay cuts, because they don't match inflation.
- Because of this, can only get a raise by changing jobs. Some judicious prevarication about salary history is recommended.
- Good chance you'll have to change careers at least once, possibly more, as industries get rugpulled by offshoring or work visas.
- Total mortgage cost on a median house in 2026 is 104,600 minimum-age-hours. This is 50+ years of full-time work.
- For comparison, a 1972 purchase would be 23,750 minimum-wage-hours, about 11 years of full time work.
What this all adds up to is that Millennials can't buy homes until they are past their child-bearing years.
And, no, scrimping and saving doesn't change that equation. This is with scrimping and saving.
I am not a Millennial. I am GenX, the child of Boomers. I do not need to be told how much Boomers forwent luxuries to save, and how hard they worked. I know exactly how much they did of each. I was there. I saw.
They worked hard at the beginning of their careers, and lived frugally for about 5 years to save up a down payment. After that, things gradually eased up, bit by bit. Until, by retirement, a lot of them had nice fat stock portfolios and multiple rental property investments, and Caribbean cruise holidays.
And this seems, to them, like a fair and natural progression.
But as America has been hollowed out and by a corrupt political machine, those doing the robbing have left the Boomers whole, and placed the burden of that corruption squarely on the backs of younger generations.
For Millennials, there's no light at the end of that tunnel.
Just another tunnel.
And another after that.
They have been standing between Boomers and the reality of the modern economy for 20 years.
At some point, they are going to break.
Absolutely true. #genjones
Thereโs a generation a lot of people forget exists. We were born at the tail end of the Boomers, but we are not culturally the same as people born in the 40s and early 50s. We are Generation Jones.
And honestly, it explains a lot.
We grew up in a world that still felt fundamentally analog, but we were young enough to be dragged headfirst into the digital revolution. We are the bridge generation between rotary phones and smartphones, between slide rules and AI, between Walter Cronkite and algorithm driven media.
We remember when there were only a few television channels and the entire country watched the same thing at the same time. We also adapted to the internet, email, forums, social media, streaming and now artificial intelligence. We lived before and after the technological singularity hit everyday life.
That is not a small thing.
People born in the 40s came of age in a post World War II America that was still industrial, deeply hierarchical and institutionally stable. Their formative years were shaped by the Cold War, Vietnam, the civil rights era and a society where information moved slowly.
Generation Jones came later. We inherited the aftermath of all of that.
We were the kids who watched Watergate destroy blind trust in government. We watched manufacturing begin to collapse. We saw divorce rates explode. We were the first truly latchkey generation in massive numbers. We learned independence early because many of us had to.
We grew up with one foot in old America and one foot in whatever this new thing was becoming.
We played outside until the streetlights came on but we also learned DOS commands. We learned cursive and keyboarding. We had card catalogs and Google searches. We went from vinyl records to cassette tapes to CDs to MP3s to streaming in one lifetime.
We remember maps. We remember memorizing phone numbers. We remember life before GPS and before every human interaction became filtered through a screen.
And because of that, I think Generation Jones developed a very unique perspective. We are adaptable because we had no choice but to adapt. We learned technology as adults instead of being born into it. We remember a slower world but were forced to survive in a rapidly accelerating one.
That creates a very different mindset than either older Boomers or younger Gen X and Millennials.
A lot of us also reject the caricature people now associate with โBoomers.โ We were not buying houses for the cost of a sandwich in 1965. The interest rate on my first house was over 14% and that was after buying down a point. Many of us got hit by recessions, outsourcing, pension collapses and economic instability just like younger generations did. We watched promises evaporate in real time.
We understand older generations because we were raised by them. We understand younger generations because we had to evolve alongside them.
Thatโs why the Jones generation often feels culturally homeless. We are rarely discussed, rarely defined and usually lumped into categories that donโt actually fit us.
But we exist.
We are the human transition point between the industrial age and the digital age.
And frankly, there will probably never be another generation quite like us again.

@SecretSunBlog Thanks, sir! Iโm #GenJones and I appreciate that from a brother GenXer. Weโre actually closer than some people think.
Where are all the #GenJones folks at?
I made this "77 from 1977" playlist FOR YOU.
Perfect for weekend BBQs and taking the old 'Vette out of storage for a Saturday spin.

They are hitting the Christian boomers hard with propaganda right now.
Keep pushing!
No amount of money is stronger than #WeThePeople when weโre united: ๐
Truth. I am #GenJones (Boomer) fully #Noticing and in agreement with #GenX and #GenZ, and, yes, even some liberals supporting Palestine.
#TheGreatNoticing is exponentially massive now, no matter what.

Israel has already lost support from almost the entirety of the Democrat Party in America, particularly over the War in Gaza.
Israel had already been losing support from Republicans under the age of 40, who were less religious/evangelical than their parents and who lived through the disastrous wars in the Middle East from the โWar on Terrorโ.
If Israel was also about to lose support from the next generation of Republicans who were overwhelmingly influenced by Charlie Kirk and TPUSA, especially considering the shrinking demographic of baby boomers in the coming years, this wouldโve been viewed as an existential crisis and looming threat to Israelโs overall existence since theyโre reliant on support from the United States.
I donโt think any of these statements are up for debate. If true, how might they respond to counter these trends?
70s music, baby! #GenJones

@Yuri_Bezmen0v @suchnerve Iโm technically a Boomer, actually #GenJonesโฆ and I wholeheartedly approve your comment! ๐๐ช๐ฏ
@GayRepublicSwag #GenJones. Sandwiched between #Boomers and #Xers. And a huge demographic!!! ๐๐ช
